To do that, buy insulating tape from your local auto parts store and then wrap the insulating tape tightly around the leak. If you can’t get to an auto parts store, you can use duct tape or rags tied tightly around the hose.
What kind of tape can you use on a radiator hose?
If the steam is coming from a rubber hose (like the one pictured above) you can likely wrap it with Silicone Rescue Tape and be on your way in minutes! Once you’ve found the hole (this can happen due to weathering, oil degradation, punctures, etc.) you can start the hose repair with Rescue Tape.
Will Gorilla tape work on radiator hose?
Not really. It might help seal the hose to the fitting but that is all. I don’t recommend gluing the hose to the fitting unless you want to replace the fitting. The glue is too brittle to repair a leak in the body of the hose and is not suited for engine high temperatures of the coolant.
Will flex seal work on radiator hose?
Some customers have found it helpful to first prep a fabric surface with Flex Seal aerosol, let it dry, and then apply Flex Tape. Q: Can I use it on my radiator hose? A: No. We do not recommend using Flex Tape on radiator hoses.

There is a problem with sealing any type of hose with tape of any kind. Radiator hoses, fuel lines, hydraulic hoses, and even garden hoses, operate under pressure. If the tape could be applied to the inside of a hose, it would work better, since the fluid pressure would push the tape against the hole.
